The EatSmart – Feed Them Nature’s Greens Project, launched on April 1, 2024, and completed on April 28, 2024, successfully established innovative smart kitchen gardens in two children’s homes—one in Trinidad and another in Tobago.

This initiative, sponsored by @iomportofspain aimed at addressing the dietary needs of the children and promoting sustainable living practices through the installation of hydroponic systems utilizing grow bags.

Each home was equipped with setups to cultivate various hydroponic vegetables and seasonings, such as sweet peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, chive, cucumbers, Patchoi and okra. Apart from the crops, individuals were also equipped with the knowledge of how to sustainably setup, plant, water and administer nutrients to the plants.

The EatSmart – Feed Them Nature’s Greens Project, launched on April 1, 2024, and completed on April 28, 2024, is now moving into its maintenance phase, with two crop cycles remaining to be harvested.

This ongoing process will continue to promote self-sufficiency and healthy eating habits among the children, thereby contributing significantly to their nutritional well-being and education in sustainable practices.

Overall, the EatSmart – Feed Them Nature’s Greens Project has laid a foundation for continued growth and learning in both homes, fostering an environment where children are actively involved in and knowledgeable about the food they consume.
